The Leaf River Lodge, located in Nunavik, has replaced its diesel generators with a green energy system consisting of 32 solar panels and 15 batteries, reducing its fuel consumption by 18,000 liters per season. This project, carried out in partnership with Volts Énergies, was 50% funded by grants and will pay for itself in four years. The electricity fully powers the outfitter’s facilities. The initiative, praised for its environmental and economic impact, is in the running for a Eureka Award. It also paves the way for expansion into winter ecotourism, despite the increased energy challenges.
